Who Ski Molhado are and what they run from Praia da Oura

Ski Molhado Desportos Aquáticos is the watersports operator on Praia da Oura, the beach below The Strip in Albufeira. The name means “wet ski”, and the company's own website lists a longer range than most beach desks in town: parasailing, jet skis, waterski and wakeboard, towables (a banana boat, a “Twister & Stingray” and a “Crazy U.F.O.”), stand-up paddle, pedal boats and kayaks, boat hire with a crew charged by the hour, and a caves and dolphins boat trip to Benagil. Everything departs from the sand or from a platform moored a few hundred metres off it. The site shows a tourism-activity registration (RNAAT 47/2010); if that number dates from the year it was issued, the desk has been licensed on this beach for well over a decade.

That range matters for one reason. If you are staying around Oura, Areias de São João or The Strip, this is the operator you can walk to. Most Albufeira boat trips leave from the marina on the other side of town; Ski Molhado's do not. This is an independent guide and we do not sell their tickets. The point of this page is to say what each product includes, so you can compare it with the marina boats before you pay.

Parasailing, jet ski and towables: what each slot includes

Parasailing is the headline product. The operator's page describes a flight of about 10 minutes, flown single, double or triple depending on the wind and on the skipper's decision, from a boat that carries up to 12 people and is out for up to 1 hour 20 minutes in total. You therefore spend far longer on the boat watching others fly than you spend in the air; that is normal for parasailing everywhere. Children fly from 5 years old, and 5–12 year olds fly in a double or triple with an adult. The site says the flight is not recommended under 5, in pregnancy, or for anyone with back or heart problems. Check-in is up to 20 min before your booked time.

Jet skis run on a circuit marked by four buoys around a platform about 400 m off the beach, in slots of 20 or 30 minutes; the site notes that the 30-minute slot may not be available at peak times of the year. Drivers must be 16 or older, and under-16s ride as passengers with an adult. You can ask for a member of staff to ride alongside you. The site says you can book on the beach on the day itself, which is true in June and often not true at two in the afternoon in August. Waterski, wakeboard, the banana and the other towables are short pulls behind a speedboat and are sold the same way. Pedal boats and kayaks are hired by the hour from the sand. Our jet ski and parasailing guide explains how these formats compare across the Albufeira beaches.

The caves and dolphins boat from Oura Beach

Ski Molhado also runs a Benagil caves and dolphin watching boat trip of up to 2.5 hours, leaving from the beach rather than the marina. The site names the main boat as PIME, with COOL FLY and OURA FLY as alternatives, each taking up to 18 people. The minimum age is 3. The operator says dolphins are not guaranteed but that it has seen cetaceans on more than 95% of its trips; treat that as their figure, not ours. Dolphins are wild, and a flat calm morning is no promise.

The cave visit runs under the Capitania do Porto de Portimão notice (Edital 019/2024, amended by 009/2025): according to the Capitania notice, motor boats enter Benagil through the west entrance for about two minutes, with a maximum of five motor boats inside at once, and there is no landing on the inner beach and no swimming into the cave. Ski Molhado's own terms add a line worth reading before you pay. If the boat cannot enter the cave because of sea conditions or an order from the authorities, there is no refund for that. The same is true across Albufeira operators, but here it is written down.

Who Ski Molhado suits, and who should go to the marina

Pick Ski Molhado if you are staying in Oura or along The Strip and want to walk to the water, if the group wants a mix of a flight, a jet-ski slot and a pedal boat in one afternoon, or if the children are small and an hour of towables on a warm beach is the real plan. Reviews mention free lockers on the sand, and the operator sells photos of the activities for download afterwards. Both suit a family that does not want a taxi.

Go to the marina instead if the caves and dolphins are the whole point. The named speedboats there, such as the yellow Dreamer at Dream Wave, run more departures per day and carry the big review counts: the 2.5-hour caves and dolphins tour on GetYourGuide had about 12,700 reviews at 4.6 when we checked in August 2026. A beach launch also means wading into the water to board, which is fine in July and awkward for anyone with limited mobility.

Where to check in

Check-in is at the Ski Molhado desk on Praia da Oura, 20 min before the activity, and not at Marina de Albufeira. If you are weighing this against a marina boat, our marina guide has the walking times and parking. From The Strip the beach is a few minutes downhill on foot; from the Old Town a taxi is easier than the cliff path with children and bags.

How to book and what to check on the listing

The operator sells directly through its own website, and the same products appear on the booking platforms. Its stated terms when we checked: a refund for cancellations up to 24 hours before the activity, and for weather cancellations a new time is offered, otherwise a full refund. Platform terms can differ, so read the cancellation line on the calendar you pay on. Before you pay, check four things: the flight type (single, double or triple is decided on the day), the jet-ski slot length, the ages of everyone flying or driving, and the boat name and time for the caves trip. In August, book the parasailing and the caves boat a day or two ahead; the towables and pedal boats can wait until you are on the beach.

Ski Molhado compared with the nearest alternatives

Albufeira Watersports is the closest comparison: the same beach-based mix of jet skis and towables, sold in a more English-facing way. Compare them on the slot length and the time you can get, not on the brand. Parasailing Vilamoura is the option if you are staying in Vilamoura and only want the flight. For Benagil, Ocean Quest mixes watersports with cave boats, and the marina speedboats above are the benchmark for price and departures. Whichever you choose, the sea state decides the day: a windy afternoon cancels a jet-ski slot faster than it cancels a catamaran, and the operator, not you, makes that call.

FAQ: Ski Molhado Desportos Aquáticos

Is skimolhado.com the official Ski Molhado website?

Yes. skimolhado.com is the operator's own site, with online booking for each activity and a photo download service. This page is an independent review and does not sell tickets. The same products also appear on booking platforms; if you pay there, the platform's cancellation terms apply rather than the ones printed on the operator's site, so read the line on the calendar you use.

Where does Ski Molhado leave from, the marina or the beach?

The beach. All activities, including the caves and dolphins boat, depart from Praia da Oura below The Strip, with check-in at the operator's desk on the sand 20 min before the start. The jet skis run around a platform about 400 m offshore. Do not go to Marina de Albufeira; that is where the Dream Wave and X-Ride speedboats leave from, on the other side of town.

How long is the Ski Molhado parasailing flight?

About 10 minutes in the air, according to the operator's page, inside a boat outing of up to 1 hour 20 minutes shared with up to 12 people. Flights are single, double or triple, and the skipper decides on the day depending on the wind. Children fly from 5 years old; 5–12 year olds fly with an adult. The site does not recommend it in pregnancy or with back or heart problems.

What is the minimum age for the Ski Molhado jet skis?

16 to drive, according to the operator's site; under-16s can ride as passengers with an adult. Slots are 20 or 30 minutes on a buoyed circuit, and the 30-minute option may not be offered at peak times. No licence requirement is mentioned on the site, and you can ask for a staff member to ride alongside. Our jet ski guide covers what to wear and what cancels a slot.

Does the Ski Molhado boat go into the Benagil cave?

Yes, when the sea allows. The trip of up to 2.5 hours runs from Praia da Oura to Benagil on boats of 18 seats (PIME, COOL FLY or OURA FLY), entering under the Capitania rules: about two minutes inside through the west entrance, no landing, no swimming. The operator's terms state that if the boat cannot enter for safety or on the authorities' orders, there is no refund for the cave part. See our Benagil cave guide.

What happens if the weather cancels my Ski Molhado activity?

The operator's terms say a new time is offered first and, if that is not possible, a full refund. Cancellations by the customer are refundable up to 24 hours before the activity, according to the same page. Wind and swell stop jet skis and parasailing more often than they stop the larger boats, so a windy afternoon slot is the one most likely to move. Book morning slots in summer if the day matters.

Can I just turn up on Praia da Oura and book on the day?

Often, yes. The operator's site says jet skis can be booked directly on the beach on the day, and the pedal boats, kayaks and towables are usually sold the same way. In July and August the parasailing flights and the caves boat fill earlier, so book those a day or two ahead online. If you are choosing between beach desks, compare with Albufeira Watersports first.
