Who Dream Wave Algarve are and what they run
Dream Wave is the Marina de Albufeira company behind the yellow Dreamer, the speedboat most visitors photograph from the quay and later search for as the Dreamer boat trip. The operator's own website lists a fleet of one Dreamer, six Insónia boats, two jet boats, a parasailing boat and the Leãozinho, says the company started about 20 years ago, and puts the team at more than 50 people. The shop is on the marina promenade at Passeio dos Oceanos, Lote 5, Loja 31, and staff work in Portuguese, English and French.
Colour is how people tell the three marina speedboats apart: Dreamer is yellow, X-Ride is orange and Matrix, run by Algarve Charters, is blue. If a yellow boat is what brought you here, the product you want is the one that names Dreamer in its title. The Insónia boats run the same route and the same programme, so a ticket that only says “speedboat” may put you on one of those instead.

The main product is a dolphin watching and cave cruise of up to 2.5 hours. The boat leaves the marina, heads to open water to look for dolphins, then follows the cliffs east past the sea caves to the Benagil area and back. What the cave part looks like
According to the Capitania do Porto de Portimão notice (Edital 019/2024, amended by 009/2025), motor boats enter Benagil through the west entrance for about two minutes, with at most five motor boats inside at a time. No boat lands on the inner beach and nobody swims into the cave. The Dreamer follows the same rule as every other speedboat, so expect a short, slow pass with the engine idling and time for photos, not a long stop.
The dolphin part
Dolphins are wild. Short-beaked common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins are the species seen most often off Albufeira, and a fast boat can cover more water in the search than a catamaran. Sightings are still not guaranteed on any ticket; the listing will tell you whether the operator offers a second trip if none are seen.
Beyond the boat tours, Dream Wave hires jet skis on a closed circuit: a 20-minute briefing followed by a 30-minute ride, with a minimum age of 16 to drive and 10 to ride as a passenger with an adult. Who Dream Wave suits, and who should pick another boat
Book Dream Wave if you want a fast, open-air 2.5-hour trip that covers both the caves and a dolphin search, you are happy to get sprayed, and you would rather spend a morning than a whole day on the water. It works well for adults, teenagers and families with school-age children who like speed. The wide fleet also lets a group split up on the same morning: some on the Dreamer, some on a jet ski, some parasailing.
Pick another format if anyone needs shade, a toilet on board, a stable deck for toddlers, or a lunch stop. Those needs are met by a catamaran cruise or a beach BBQ day, not by a speedboat. The operator's site says its boat tours are suitable for all ages, but speedboat listings usually exclude pregnant women and people with back or neck problems, and the crew apply the rule on the pontoon. If seasickness worries you, choose a morning departure, when the sea is usually calmer, or take the slower boat.
Where Dream Wave checks in
Check-in is at the Dream Wave shop in Marina de Albufeira, on the Passeio dos Oceanos promenade; see the marina guide for walking times, taxis and parking. Bring the voucher on your phone, sunscreen, a strap for glasses and a light windproof layer: on the Dreamer the front seats get wet even on a calm day.

Dream Wave versus X-Ride and Algarve Charters
The two nearest alternatives leave from the same marina and run the same 2.5-hour caves and dolphins route. X-Ride is the orange speedboat, with a second boat called X Plorer, private departures and a yacht option. Algarve Charters runs the blue Matrix and also books yacht charters. Prices for the standard trip sit close together on the live listings, so choose by departure time, group size and the boat you want in your photos.
Dream Wave's advantage is breadth: jet boats, jet skis and parasailing under one brand, plus six Insónia boats that add departures on busy mornings. Its limitation is the same as the other two: no shade, no toilet, and a short pass inside the cave.
