Who X-Ride Algarve are and what they run
X-Ride is the orange speedboat in Marina de Albufeira, one of the three fast boats visitors learn to tell apart by colour: X-Ride orange, Dreamer yellow, Matrix blue. The company says it has more than 20 years in maritime tourism on this coast, and its website is published in Portuguese, English and French. CheckYeti lists the brand among its top Albufeira providers, which is a marketplace ranking based on that platform's bookings, not a star score.
When we checked the operator's site in August 2026 it listed two boats on the standard route, the X Ride and the X Plorer, each on a 2.5-hour dolphins and Benagil caves trip, private versions of both, a sunset trip to Benagil and the caves, and a luxury yacht sold under the name Xclusive. The standard X-Ride trip is the classic Albufeira speedboat morning: out of the marina, into open water to look for dolphins, then east along the cliffs past the sea caves to Benagil and back, in about 2.5 hours. The cave pass
According to the Capitania do Porto de Portimão notice (Edital 019/2024, amended by 009/2025), motor boats enter Benagil through the west entrance for about two minutes, no more than five at a time, with no landing on the inner beach and no swimming into the cave. The orange boat follows the same rule as the yellow and blue ones, so the Benagil cave tour part of the trip is a short, slow pass with time for a few photos. The rest of the cliff line, with its arches and smaller caves, is where most of the sightseeing happens.
The dolphin search
Dolphins are wild, and sightings are not guaranteed. Book X-Ride if you want a fast, open-air trip that covers both dolphins and caves in a morning, you are happy to be sprayed in the front seats, and the orange boat is the one you want in your photos. It is a good match for adults, teenagers and school-age children who enjoy speed, and the private option makes it workable for a family that wants control over the timing.
Choose another format if anyone in the group needs shade, a toilet on board, a stable deck for toddlers or a lunch stop. A catamaran cruise or a beach BBQ day covers those needs at a slower pace. Speedboat listings usually exclude pregnant women and people with back or neck problems, and the crew apply the rule at the pontoon. The other two speedboats leave from the same marina on the same 2.5-hour route. Dream Wave runs the yellow Dreamer plus six Insónia boats, two jet boats, parasailing and jet ski hire, so it has the widest choice of formats. Algarve Charters runs the blue Matrix and also books yacht charters. X-Ride sits between them: two speedboats, private versions of both, a sunset trip and a yacht, but no jet skis or parasailing.
Prices for the standard trip sit close together on the live listings, so the practical differences are departure time, group size and whether you want a private boat.
