Sea Land Algarve review: coasteering and snorkeling near Sagres

Who Sea Land Algarve are and what they run

Sea Land Algarve is a small coasteering operator in the western Algarve. When we read their website in August 2026 it listed three products: a standard coasteering session, a kids' version of the same route, and a rock climbing experience for beginners on cliffs near Lagos, offered on request for a maximum of four people. Review sites file the company under Lagos, and the coasteering itself takes place in the Vicentine Coast natural park near Sagres.

That geography is the first thing to understand. This is not an Albufeira operator with a counter at the marina. Pick-up and drop-off are around Lagos and Sagres, which is roughly an hour west of Albufeira by car. If your base is Albufeira and you want to scramble, swim and jump on the same morning without a drive, the coasteering and snorkeling guide lists closer options.

Tours and formats

• Coasteering with snorkeling — 4 hours in total, €60 per person on the operator's site when we checked, minimum age 14. The route mixes hiking, climbing along the rock just above the water, swimming through sea caves, snorkeling stops and cliff jumps of 1 to 11 metres.
• Coasteering, kids' version — 3 hours 30 minutes, €60 per person, from age 7. The operator describes it as an easier route with simple climbing and jumps of 0.5 to 6 metres.
• Rock climbing experience — a beginner's session on cliffs near Lagos, groups of up to four, on request only.

Both coasteering sessions include a guide with a lifeguard certificate, a full wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet, protective boots and shorts, a snorkel and mask, photos and videos of the jumps, transport from the pick-up point and insurance. You bring a swimsuit to wear under the wetsuit, a towel, water and sunscreen. The operator's site does not state the languages spoken or the group size, so ask when you book.

The snorkeling is part of the coasteering, not a separate product. You are in the water between climbs, looking at what lives around the rock in the clear water off the Vicentine Coast; do not expect a reef trip or a boat with a ladder. If you want a mask morning without the jumps, a kayak tour with a swim stop from Albufeira is the nearer and gentler choice, from about €32.

Who this operator suits, and who should pick another format

Book Sea Land Algarve if you are staying in Lagos or Sagres, or have a car and a free half-day, and the group is happy to swim in open sea, climb on wet rock and jump from height. The kids' version is a real option for families: from age 7, shorter jumps and the same kit. Teenagers who found the boat tours tame tend to like this format. The 11-metre jumps on the adult route are the top end; we could not confirm on the site whether every jump is optional, so ask before you pay if anyone is unsure about heights.

Pick another format if anyone in the group cannot swim confidently, has a shoulder, knee or back problem, is pregnant, or wants to see the Benagil cave. Coasteering here is on the west coast and nowhere near Benagil; a Benagil cave tour from Albufeira is a separate day. For a day on the water without getting wet, choose a catamaran. Pick-up and drop-off are around Lagos and Sagres; the operator confirms the exact point after booking. How to book and what to check on the listing

The operator takes bookings on its own website. Coasteering-with-snorkeling listings for Lagos also appear on the big platforms; filter by the operator name, because several companies sell similar sessions under similar titles. We do not sell tickets and our booking widgets use GetYourGuide, which mainly lists Albufeira departures for this format.

• Standard or kids' version — same price on the site, different route, different minimum age (14 versus 7).
• Pick-up point and time — Lagos or Sagres, and whether the pick-up works with your accommodation.
• Swimming — assume you must be a confident open-water swimmer for the adult route; ask what is required for children.
• Jumps — ask whether every jump can be skipped. The route tops out at 11 metres.
• Sea state — the guide decides on the day. If the operator cancels you are refunded or rebooked; if you miss the pick-up you are not.
• Photos — included on the site's list, so you should not need to pay extra for them.

How they compare with Kayak Caves Tours and Seacret Tours

Kayak Caves Tours sells guided sea-kayak tours, SUP sessions and coasteering from the cliffs near Albufeira, so it is the nearest like-for-like comparison for a group based in town: no drive, a shorter session, and the Albufeira cave coast rather than the Vicentine Coast. Seacret Tours runs 12-seat RIB trips to the dolphins and Benagil from Marina de Albufeira with kayak and in-water options, which suits a group that wants dolphins and a swim more than climbing.

Sea Land Algarve is the choice when the scenery matters more than the distance: the west coast near Sagres is wilder and quieter than the cliffs between Albufeira and Carvoeiro, and four hours with full kit, transport and photos for €60 is a fair price for what is included.
