Kayak Caves Tours – SUP – Coasteering is the full trading name, and it says most of what you need to know. The operator runs three things on the coast between Albufeira and Benagil: guided sea-kayak tours into the caves, stand-up paddleboard (SUP) sessions along the cliffs, and coasteering, a guided route along the base of the rocks that mixes scrambling, swimming and jumps. Some listings we saw also mention snorkelling as part of the coasteering morning. Nothing in the range uses a motor. If you want the two-minute pass through Benagil on a boat, that is a different product and a different guide.

The kayak and SUP products are gentle enough for most adults and older children. Coasteering is not. Guides turn people away at the meeting point for open-toe shoes, and they will not take someone who cannot swim. That is the product working as designed, not the guide being difficult.
What a kayak can and cannot do at Benagil
If the route reaches the Benagil cave, the operator works under the Capitania do Porto de Portimão notices Edital 019/2024 and amendment 009/2025. According to the Capitania notice, guided kayaks and SUPs enter through the east entrance and have about eight minutes inside; motor boats use the west entrance for about two minutes, with a maximum of five motor boats inside at once. Nobody lands on the inner beach, and swimming or floating into the cave on inflatables is not allowed. Unguided kayak hire into the cave is not an option either. Coasteering routes run along the rock outside the cave sector, so those rules matter less there. What matters is the sea state: a swell that is fine for a kayak can cancel a coasteering session, and the guide decides on the morning.

Book them for coasteering if that is the point of the day and the group is fit, swims confidently and is happy to jump. Book the kayak or SUP if you want to be close to the rock under your own power and a live listing has a start time and meeting point you can reach.
Pick another format if anyone in the group cannot swim, does not want to be wet for two hours, or needs a toilet on board. A catamaran or a marina speedboat covers the same coastline dry.
