Pelago is the travel-experiences platform owned by Singapore Airlines. It sells tours, tickets and activities worldwide, and members of the airline's KrisFlyer programme can earn or spend miles on what they book. For Albufeira it is a small shelf: when we checked in August 2026, the Albufeira boat trips on Pelago were a handful of listings, mostly the familiar caves and dolphins formats, against dozens on GetYourGuide.
That makes Pelago a sensible second tab rather than a first stop. If you are a KrisFlyer member, or you are already booking the rest of a Portugal trip through the Pelago app, it is worth a look. If not, the wider choice and the larger review counts are elsewhere. Our booking guide compares every platform that sells Albufeira boats.
What Pelago is
Pelago launched in 2021 as a venture of Singapore Airlines. It works like the other activity marketplaces: operators list their tours, Pelago takes the payment, and you receive a voucher with the meeting point and time. The boat is run by the local operator — Dream Wave, X-Ride, AlgarExperience or whoever holds the listing — so the experience on the water is the same one sold on other platforms. What differs is the app, the loyalty scheme, the cancellation wording and sometimes the price.
Its customer base is strongest in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region, which is why the Albufeira inventory is thin. Listings appear and disappear with the season, so treat any count as a moment in time rather than a fixed catalogue.
What Pelago is good for in Albufeira
Three cases stand out.
- KrisFlyer members. Pelago lets you earn miles on bookings and, on many listings, pay partly or fully with miles. If you fly Singapore Airlines and hold a balance, a caves and dolphins trip from about €34 is an easy way to use it. Check the current earn and spend rate in the app before you assume a figure.
- One-account travellers. If your Lisbon, Porto and Algarve activities already sit in Pelago, keeping the Albufeira boat there means one set of vouchers and one support channel.
- Price checks. Pelago occasionally runs promotions or shows a different price for the same product. Comparing the same date on two platforms costs two minutes and sometimes saves a few euros.
What Pelago is not good for is choice. Named-boat listings such as the yellow Dreamer or the orange X-Ride, sunset cruises, BBQ boat days and the guided kayak cave tours were mostly missing or sparse when we looked. For the full range of formats, start with the Benagil cave guide or the dolphin watching guide and book through the widget on those pages.
Cancellation, refunds and support on Pelago
Each listing carries its own cancellation policy, and that policy, not a platform-wide rule, is what applies. Many Pelago activities offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, but some boat trips are stricter or non-refundable, and the cut-off can be 48 hours or more in peak season. Read the policy line on the listing before you pay.
Weather cancellations are the operator's call. If the skipper cancels the departure, you should be offered another date or a refund; if you miss check-in, you are usually not. Refunds go back to the original payment method, and bookings paid with miles are generally re-credited under Pelago's own terms, which can take some days. Support runs through the app's help section and email. Response times vary and are slower than a phone call to the operator on the morning of the trip, so keep the operator's contact from the voucher.

How to use Pelago well
- Search for “Albufeira”, not “Algarve”. Algarve results mix in Lagos, Portimão and Vilamoura departures, which add a transfer — see our departure point comparison.
- Read the operator name and the boat name. A generic photo of a yellow speedboat does not mean you are on the Dreamer.
- Check the duration. A 2.5-hour caves and dolphins trip and a short cave-only dash can sit side by side with similar photos.
- Check whether the dolphin search is included or whether the listing is coastline only.
- Open the same product and date on GetYourGuide before paying and compare the total in euros, including any currency conversion if Pelago shows you Singapore dollars.
- Read the most recent reviews rather than the star average; on a thin shelf, three recent reviews say more than a rating.
- Screenshot the voucher. Check-in for most Albufeira boats is at Marina de Albufeira — see the marina guide for the walk and parking.
Rules that apply whatever app sold the ticket
The Benagil cave rules set by the Capitania do Porto de Portimão apply to every boat. According to the Capitania notice, motor boats enter through the west entrance for about two minutes, with no more than five inside at once, and nobody lands on the inner beach or swims in. Dolphins are wild and sightings are not guaranteed. The prices we quote are “from” prices seen on GetYourGuide in August 2026 and will move with the season.
Why our widgets use GetYourGuide
The calendars and price cards on this site pull from GetYourGuide because it holds the widest Albufeira boat inventory and the largest review counts, and we earn a small commission on bookings made through them at no extra cost to you. That does not make Pelago a worse choice for a KrisFlyer member with miles to use. Compare the two for your date and book where the policy and the price suit you.
FAQ: Pelago
Does Pelago sell boat trips from Albufeira?
Yes, but only a few. When we checked in August 2026, Pelago listed a handful of Albufeira boat trips, mainly caves and dolphins formats run by the same marina operators that sell on GetYourGuide. Listings change with the season, so search for “Albufeira” in the app and read the operator name on each card. For the full range of formats and named boats, see our booking guide.
Can I pay for an Albufeira boat trip with KrisFlyer miles on Pelago?
On many Pelago listings, yes. KrisFlyer members can earn miles on bookings and use miles to pay part or all of the price, at the conversion rate shown in the app at the time. Not every listing accepts miles and the rate changes, so check the payment step before you rely on it. Refunds of miles follow Pelago's own terms and can take longer than a card refund.
Is Pelago cheaper than GetYourGuide for Albufeira boat tours?
Usually the prices match, because operators set the same base price on every platform. Pelago runs occasional promotions and GetYourGuide shows discounts on its biggest Albufeira listings, so either can be a few euros lower on a given date. Open the same product and date on both, compare the total in euros, and check the cancellation window before you pick the cheaper one. Our price guide lists the typical from-prices.
What happens if my Pelago boat trip is cancelled for bad weather?
The skipper decides on the day. If the operator cancels, you should be offered another departure or a full refund through Pelago. Contact the operator first using the number on the voucher, then Pelago support if the refund does not appear within the stated period. If you miss check-in or cancel inside the listing's cut-off, the policy on the listing applies and a refund is unlikely.
Does Pelago sell the yellow Dreamer speedboat?
Sometimes. Dream Wave's products appear on several platforms and can show up on Pelago, but the card may use a generic title and photo. Only the operator line and the boat name on the listing tell you which boat you will board. If the Dreamer matters to you, read our Dream Wave review and confirm the name on the listing before you pay.
Are the reviews on Pelago useful for Albufeira boats?
They are few, so read them alongside the larger review counts on GetYourGuide and Google. The main 2.5-hour caves and dolphins tour has about 12,700 GetYourGuide reviews at 4.6, while the same product on Pelago may have a handful. Recent reviews matter more than the average: look for comments on the boat used, sea conditions and check-in. Our reviews guide explains what the common complaints mean.
Where do I check in for a boat trip booked on Pelago?
At the point printed on your Pelago voucher, which for most Albufeira boat trips is Marina de Albufeira. The voucher gives the check-in time; the operator will not hold the boat if you arrive after departure. Kayak tours may meet at a beach instead, so read the meeting point line rather than assuming the marina. Our marina guide covers the walk, taxis and parking.
