Civitatis is a Spanish booking platform for tours, day trips and activities, run from Madrid and built first for Spanish-speaking travellers. It has English, French, Italian and Portuguese versions, but its reputation was made in Spanish: guided walks with Spanish-speaking guides in European capitals, free cancellation on most products, prices shown in the customer's own currency, and reviews written by Spanish and Latin American travellers.
In Albufeira the offer is small and overlaps almost entirely with the other platforms. When we checked in August 2026, the Albufeira page listed under thirty experiences of all kinds, and the boat products were a 2.5-hour Algarve caves cruise, two dolphin-watching trips and a kayak tour to the sea caves. All of them were marked as English-language tours, because the operators and crews are the same local companies that sell through GetYourGuide and Viator. That is the key thing to understand about Civitatis here: the platform speaks Spanish, the boat usually does not.
What Civitatis is good for in Albufeira
A Spanish-language checkout, voucher and customer service. For a group that lives in Spanish, that matters when something goes wrong: you can write to support in your own language and read exactly what the cancellation line says. Reviews on the Albufeira listings are often in Spanish too, which makes it easier to judge what people complained about.
The products themselves are familiar. The caves cruise is the same format we describe in the Benagil cave guide and the caves and coastline guide: a run east along the cliffs to Benagil with a short entry into the cave. The dolphin trips match our dolphin watching guide, with the same honest caveat that dolphins are wild and sightings are not guaranteed. Will the commentary be in Spanish? Confirm it on the listing
This is the point where Spanish-speaking readers get caught. A Spanish storefront does not assign you a Spanish-speaking skipper. Albufeira crews mostly work in Portuguese and English, and many manage basic Spanish because Portuguese and Spanish are close, but a full briefing in Spanish is only promised if the listing says so in the language line. If half your group needs Spanish and the card is vague, write to the operator before you pay, or pick a format where language matters less, such as a catamaran or a swim-stop trip, and treat the commentary as a bonus.
Cancellation, refunds and support on Civitatis
Every Albufeira boat listing we saw carried a free-cancellation label. The deadline is set per activity and printed on the listing and on the voucher; for boat trips it is typically a day or two before the start, though some products are stricter in peak weeks. Cancel inside the window from your Civitatis account and the refund goes back to the original payment method, usually within a few working days. Outside the window you normally lose the full price.
Weather works the way it does on every platform: the skipper decides on the morning, and if the operator cancels you should be offered a new date or a full refund. If you miss check-in, you are not refunded. Civitatis advertises customer service in Spanish and English by email, chat and phone; for a same-day problem, call the operator on the number printed on your voucher first, then tell the platform.

- Switch the currency to euros before comparing. The operator is paid in euros, and a dollar figure with rounding can hide a price that is identical elsewhere.
- Read the language line, not the site language. If it says English, expect English on board; ask the operator in advance if you need Spanish.

- Read the most recent reviews. Spanish-language reviews are useful for Spanish readers, but sort by date, not by rating.

Yes, the same rules apply to every boat. According to the Capitania do Porto de Portimão notice (Edital 019/2024, amended by 009/2025), motor boats enter through the west entrance for about two minutes, at most five inside at once, with no landing on the inner beach and no swimming or inflatables into the cave.
